confirmation email or non?

it seems as though recently a few new members have been having trouble receiving confirmation emails to the board to activate their account. This i believe is due to the server having some slowdown problems lately.
to counter this i think i might just enable non-confirm emails and just have users be able to post immediately after signing up. what do you think?

i think there should be no email confirmation
it took me like a couple of hours to get the confirmation
